58 Madame President - RT Shores

After the Inaugural Speech

Being Secret Service for the President was daunting and now we had a female president, it was much more so. I also had to share the charge with a female agent. Don't ask me why.

I never complained, for I was honored to have been chosen; being of German descent still had its drawbacks.

I reviewed the day's calendar with my female counterpart, who only growled once. "It isn't secure enough there!" I agreed.

It didn't matter though, we were off in thirty minutes. The Limo was full, because new rules required caregivers in attendance at all times. Was this a dig at females?

The park dedication went well, but it was nerve-wracking and not secure. Madame President loved parks though. Most of our activities were outdoor venues, it seemed.

Back at the White House, Madame went to her suite and rested before the State of the Union.

She walked out of her suite, head held high, the First Husband at her side. They were a glorious couple.

She stood tall at the podium and the chamber quieted.

"Tonight is a very special night! Tonight we are equal on the platform with the males!" The room sounded like it would explode with the response from the mass in the chamber.

A caregiver approached and Madame lowered herself and drank from her dainty water bowl. The caregiver dabbed her chin.

"Tonight, Collies and Shepherds, mixed breeds and immigrants unite!" More barking erupted in the chamber.

"My caregiver asked me to share one thing with you... 'Humans have feelings too.'

She waited for a pause. "I support this! I believe that Humans have feelings and can think! I ask you to support this as well!" Barks and woofs and all manner of sounds erupted, for it was a Democratic and Liberal Congress and Senate.

The caregiver approached when summoned, head down. Madame took her hand with her mouth and then high-fived with her large paw.

"To Human liberation!" The caregiver jumped at the sound, but was soothed by the 'Aww's' and bared her teeth, only slightly, in a Human smile. She then was whisked away to the side, where she sat and looked up at the President with utter devotion.

The President smiled down at her and swore to herself that a better day was coming for Humans.
